Feeling lost and unsure about my future, I tapped into my past experiences and realized that the same skills I learned in football and from my father were the very ones I needed to succeed in life. With an unyielding spirit, I blazed my own trail, facing obstacles head-on and finding my true calling along the way.
The foundation of many important life lessons has come directly from football. It was the one thing I always enjoyed, becoming the only clear direction in my life. However, even with a passion for the sport, I still had moments of doubt.
When you are passionate about something, especially something that requires a high level of performance and consistency, it can be easy to question if you are good enough. This uncertainty would sometimes lead me to doubt my abilities throughout my high school and college career. It would have been so easy to give up, succumb to the doubts and walk away. But my father, a beacon of strength and insight, taught me the power of mental toughness and perseverance.
My father instilled in me the belief that no matter how daunting the challenge, I had the strength within me to overcome it. With his guidance, I learned to face adversity head-on, push through the doubts and keep moving forward. Football became not just a game but a metaphor for life – a constant reminder that success is born from determination and resilience, not simply through a natural born skill.
When I graduated college, suddenly, a piece of my identity was gone. Football carried me through the most influential years of my life. Now, I had to figure out who I was beyond the sport. Truthfully, I was directionless at first, like many recent college graduates.
However, life has a way of guiding us in unexpected ways. My mother ventured into the mortgage industry, which piqued my curiosity. And so, I entered the world of mortgages and found it to be an invaluable learning experience.
Over the course of 12 years, I weathered the storm of the housing crash, working at various banks and lenders, all while learning about the real estate industry and investing in rental properties of my own. In 2014, I made the bold choice to leave everything behind in New York and start fresh in Charlotte.
Embracing the transitional phase I was in, I decided to leave behind the mortgage industry and pursue a career in real estate. The mortgage industry was good to me, but I wanted a career where I could form meaningful connections with my clients and make a tangible impact on their lives. As a REALTOR®, I could work with people from the very beginning all the way through to the finish line, and even after!
Starting afresh in real estate was no easy task. I faced the daunting reality of knocking on doors, trying to establish myself in a new community where I knew no one. The road ahead seemed uncertain and challenging, but I applied the lessons my father taught me, along with the mental toughness I learned on the football field, to keep pushing forward.
Slowly but surely, my hard work and resilience began to pay off. In my third year in real estate, I began to see the fruits of my labor. People were reaching out to me, impressed by my dedication and professionalism. Referrals and positive reviews started pouring in. It was a turning point – with every client I help today, I am reminded that all the work leading up to this moment was well worth it!
Rebuilding my life here in Charlotte did not happen alone. My incredible wife, Jessica, has been a constant source of support for me. Our two boys, Brody and Blake, are full of energy. After a long day serving my clients, I come home ready to spend hours playing with our boys and, when I can find the time, work out.
As a real estate agent here in Charlotte, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, each at different stages of their lives and with varying needs. Whether you're a first-time buyer, a retiree looking to downsize, or anywhere in between, I am dedicated to helping you find the perfect property.
What has continued to set me apart in the industry is my patience and high level of performance. I understand that this is one of the single most important financial decisions that you will make. I never rush my clients or pressure them because, at the end of the day, I want you to be happy now and in the future with your decision. What is best for you is best for me! When you do decide to buy or sell, I am with you every step of the way. Applying my years of industry experience, I will help you navigate the complex industry, ensuring you receive the best outcome possible. Even after the transaction is over, I remain your REALTOR® for life, ready to help with all future ventures.
Sincerely,
Chris Phillis
